First go to start and type cmd in the search bar.
It should pull up the icon for cmd which is command prompt.
Next you will need to right click and select the option *Run as administrator*
If you fail to run as the administrator you will receive an error when attempting the actual flush command. (It will state requires elevation.)
Next type the following command and hit Enter.

ipconfig /flushdns

After a few moments you should see a confirmation window that states.
*Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.*

Good Luck!

How does one refresh dns? On vista, I tried cmd prompt and typed ipconfig /flushdns and that didn't work. I also tried that way after I ran cmd prompt as admin and that didn't work. I got this info from googling.

This is the error I get "Microsoft Windows [Version 6.0.6001]
Copyright (c) 2006 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

C:\Users\Larry>ipconfig /flushdns

Windows IP Configuration

Could not flush the DNS Resolver Cache: Function failed during execution.

C:\Users\Larry>"

What do I need to do?
